Hey Classmates 😊

Holy Cow SIXTY YEARS…

** UPDATED DATE ** After rechecking available dates, we’ve found that late August is the best available choice.  We have selected the weekend of AUGUST 23rd & 24th.  There are no Vandal or Cougar football home games so the Best Western will give those staying there reduced group rates plus provide us with a nice private dining room with a Beer & Wine bar for a Reunion Dinner on Saturday night.  Thanks to Kay Wallace Miller for coordinating this for us… Thanks Kay!

Here are the plans so far… We can:

  • Those interested will gather at Mingles on Friday evening to get re-acquainted and share each other’s company.
  • If you like, classmates can get together for a no-host breakfast and/or lunch at a local restaurant on Saturday.
  • Some have asked about other activities for Saturday (e.g. a tour of Russell School).  Denny made this happen!  10:00am Saturday morning... if you see some mature folks near the door of the Old Russell School... That's the "Tour".  😊
  • Thanks to Martha... If you like beautiful Quilts... take the Kascha Quilts tour of the display Fabric Art Exhibit. Those interested will meet Saturday and perhaps form a carpool after the Russel School visit, to Genesee where the display located at 148 E. Ash Street, Genesee 83832. I have arranged to be greeted at 1:00 by the artist, Karen Schoepflin Hagen, who grew up in Viola, Id. EVERYONE WELCOME !!
  • NEW Thanks to Jack Porter... “Pubbin’ on the Patio” runs from 4:30 to 7:30 pm Friday.  You can drop in any time and leave when you feel like it, and there’s still lots of time to gather at Mingles if you wish.  No cover charge.  The address is 1040 Rodeo Drive.  BTW - There's live music with “Jon and Rand Band.”  They do covers of popular songs of the 60s, 70s, and 80s.  The bass player, Mark Snodgrass, is the son of Walter Snodgrass, who taught so many of us in Moscow school bands from fifth grade through high school.
  • NEW  The 1912 Center (Whitworth School) holds memories for many of us.  We're invited to "Drop In" on Saturday to take a look at how this great old building has changed... Thanks again Jack Porter for this invite...
  • Some have expressed an interest in playing golf.  When you sign up, please let us know if you'd like to play.  FYI - The U of I course is closed for a tournament... the Elks Course is open with Tee Times available on a first come - first serve basis... no reservations.  Call the Elks for Tee Times at 208-882-3015.
  • We’ll Gather for the Reunion dinner on Saturday evening at the University Best Western… say… 5:30 to 11:00pm.
    • What's for Dinner?  We have planned for a sit-down, served dinner in a private dining area. The Best Western had some options. A choice of two "Dinner" meals with a third possibility of a Vegan dinner if requested.  A Beer and Wine bar will be in the dining room.
Prime Rib is served with burgundy au jus & horseradish sauce and is served with Rosemary red potatoes...
Coeur d Alene Chicken is a French Cut chicken breast, stuffed with St. Maries wild rice pilaf mixed with dried craisins & toasted walnuts... Oven roasted and finished with a huckleberry demi-glace sauce.
  • We plan to have a fun little program Saturday evening and Denny will be set to provide some music from “back in the day”.
  • Those interested could get together for a no-host breakfast on Sunday morning before heading home.

STEP 2

We do hope you are interested in joining us for our 60th High School Reunion?  Please click on this "Sign Up" link to let us know you plan to attend.  NOTE: When you've completed the sign-up form, you will be taken to the on-line payment page.

Classmates can choose to do any or ALL those suggested above.

Personally, I hope we’ll be able to have this chance to see each other again.  Many of us are becoming “very mature”.  Those that reached that milestone could share a bit of what got them to that goal.  Those of us still here and that haven’t matured yet… will benefit from your sharing.

If you get a chance… Please, visit at our www.MHS1964.com website.  You can CLICK HERE to send updated information for your page on our site... or... send updates by Email.

I’m also hoping that some of you will encourage hard-to-reach classmates to consider joining us.  I’ll share my list if you would like to lend a hand…

A special thanks to Pat Gayman Bates, Bonnie Nelson Aplington, Marilyn Haley ShaeDenny Sumner, Kay Wallace Miller and Vicki Thornton McGahan for their encouragement and help in getting us to this point!
