Robert Lawrence Pierson, of Moscow, died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2017, at his home. He was 71.

Robert was born Aug. 15, 1946, at Gritman Hospital to Harold L. and Hilda L. Holm Pierson. He grew up and attended Moscow schools, graduating from Moscow High School in 1964. He worked as a baker at Safeway in Moscow prior to entering the Navy in 1965, serving in the Philippines and a tour in Vietnam. Following his honorable discharge in 1971, Robert enrolled at the University of Idaho, graduating with a degree in electrical engineering.

He secured a position with Idaho Engineering Laboratories in Idaho Falls for eight years, retiring to return to Moscow to care for his parents and his brother, Ed.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Roy. Surviving are his brothers, David Pierson in Redmond, Ore., James Pierson in Longview, Wash., and Edward Pierson in Moscow.

At his request, there will be no formal service. A private graveside and urn placement will be at the Moscow Cemetery.

The family suggests memorials be made to a charity of choice.
