Diane Dahmen Ayton (MHS Class of 1965) sent along a short note. She tell us:

Carol Morton died of melanoma.  We were very good friends when she became ill.  I miss her every day.


The following obituary was found in the Monday, Jan 17, 1977 issue of the Idahonian.

Carol Anne Morton, 30, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Warren Morton of Moscow, died Saturday at 9:35 a.m. at Gritman Memorial Hospital.

She was born March 19, 1946, in Shrewsbury, England, but had lived most of her life in Moscow. She had been employed as a secretary at Everett Will Tractor Co.

She was a member of the Episcopal Church. She had been married and divorced.

Survivors include her parents; a son, Garrett Smith, and a daughter, Joni Lu McDougall, both of Moscow; two sisters, Linda Lee Robinson of Plummer, and Diana Turk of Coeur d'Alene; and a brother, Melvin Morton of Coeur d'Alene.

The funeral will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Short's Chapel, with the Rev. Robert Beveridge officiating. Burial will be in the Moscow Cemetery.

The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society.
